Inverness, Dolphins
Whatya mean, too far North. We got Dolphins! And common seals, grey seals and porpoise. And birds. Loads of birds. Its a regular wildlife haven out there in the Moray Firth.
Dolphin-watching is maybe not the most obvious thing to do in Scotland, but hey, why not. Its a nice trip out on the water, and even if you don’t see the dolphins, the Inverness Firth has some great views. Further out in the Moray Firth there are North Sea Oil Rigs and everything!
There are a few cruises out in the Moray Firth to see the dolphins. Inverness Dolphin Cruises leaves from Inverness harbour, a short walk from the city centre.
For a free alternative, drive over the Kessock Bridge to the Black Isle, along the North shore of the Firth to Fortrose, then out to Chanonry Point, which is where the dolphins regularly hang out. Last time we were there, they were within a few metres of the shore.
